Garmin Connect will export a course as a GPX file, but only from the desktop web site. The Garmin Connect mobile app has no course export at all — there is no button for it. That is fine until you are away from a computer and someone needs the route, which is exactly when it comes up.
Cue Sheet closes that gap. Open the course in Garmin Connect, share it to copy its link, paste the link above, and you get a GPX or TCX back on the phone in your hand. It works with any course set to Public. There is no account and no Garmin sign-in, nothing you paste is stored, and it is free.
The file loads onto anything that isn't a Garmin — a Wahoo ELEMNT, a Hammerhead Karoo, Zwift, Strava, Komoot, Ride with GPS — and onto Garmin devices too, if that is simply the fastest way to hand a route to someone.
Questions
- Can you export a GPX from Garmin Connect on your phone?
- Not in the Garmin Connect app itself — it has no course export. The export exists only on the desktop web version. That is the gap this fills.
- How do I get a Garmin route onto a Wahoo, Hammerhead or Zwift?
- Set the course to Public, copy its share link, paste it here and download the GPX. Then import it the way you normally would — the Wahoo companion app, Hammerhead Dashboard, or a Zwift route upload.
- Does it work with private courses?
- No. The course has to be Public in Garmin Connect. There is no sign-in anywhere here, so a private course simply isn't readable and comes back as an error. You can set a course Public, export it, and set it back.
- Do I need a Garmin account?
- No account, no sign-in, no password. Nothing you paste is stored.
- What's the difference between the GPX and the TCX?
- The GPX is a route with elevation and turn cues as waypoints, and it is what most devices and apps want. The TCX is a course with timed trackpoints, cumulative distance and course points, which some older head units and trainers prefer. Garmin Connect doesn't offer TCX for courses at all — it exists here only because the file is built from scratch.
- Will it keep working?
- Probably, but it isn't promised. It reads the same course data Garmin already serves to anyone holding the share link, using endpoints Garmin never documented. If they change them, this breaks until it's fixed.
